Coulter’s first feature film as director of photography was Bill Forsyth’s That Sinking Feeling. He also collaborated with the director on Gregory’s Girl, Housekeeping, Breaking In and Being Human.
His other film credits include The Good Father, The Long Day Closes, The Neon Bible, Where Angels Fear To Tread, Fairy Tale: A True Story and Four Weddings and a Funeral, for which he received a BSC nomination for Best Cinematography. In 1995, his work on Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility brought him triple accolades with an Academy Award nomination, a BAFTA nomination and a BSC nomination for Best Cinematography.
