TREVOR JONES (Composer) is one of Britain’s most prolific and versatile film and television composers. Following a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music and a degree in music and visual arts at York University, he became the first student of film music composition at the National Film School, where he was one of the first graduates to win an Academy Award for The Dollar Bottom in the Best Short Film category. In January 1999 he became the first chair of music at the National Film and Television School.

Jones composed his first film score in 1979 for John Boorman’s Excalibur, which was followed by The Dark Crystal, Runaway Train, Labyrinth, Angel Heart, Sea of Love, Loch Ness, Richard III, Gulliver’s Travels, Rosanna’s Grave, Lawn Dogs, Dark City and Titanic Town, directed by Roger Michell.

Many of his films have been honored, including: Mississippi Burning (1989 BAFTA Award nomination); Arachnaphobia (1990 Ivor Novello Award nomination); The Last of the Mohicans (winner of the ASCAP Award, nominations for both the Golden Globe and BAFTA in 1992); Cliffhanger (winner of BMI Award); In The Name of the Father (winner of ASCAP Award); Brassed Off (1997 BAFTA nomination); Merlin (1998 Emmy nomination) and The Mighty (1998 Golden Globe Best Song nomination).
